Snow Days

Snow days are beautiful things. There is just something lottery winning like about finding out you are free for the day. In fact they would be darn near perfect if I didn’t have to wake up and answer the phone at 4:41 a.m. to be informed of this joyous occasion.

I really don’t understand if the weather is all ready bad why they can’t cancel school the night before. Is there some kind of secret superintendent code that says you have to make the kids and the parents sweat it out until the last possible minute?
Does the nice lady that tapes the message that is played to us in the wee hours of the morning have to get up and record it at 4 a.m.? Is she privy to the information the night before? If so, can she be bribed to reveal it to me?
