Trash Can Jenga

My kids don’t play board games much anymore but they do find ways to play games to keep themselves entertained.  These games are called “Get On Mama’s Very Last Nerve”.
The first game they love to play just to watch me lose my mind is the trash stacking game.  The object of this game is to stack as much trash in the trashcan as possibly until it overflows. Bonus points are apparently earned for how many things you can stack before it falls off the top of the can.  You get extra points if you stack a half full cup with melted Slurpee on top  and it falls onto the floor.  The gooey syrup sticking to the floor is extra fun to walk through and will often cause me to swear and threaten someones life.

Their next favorite game is to toss down their laundry for me to do with clean folded clothes mixed in with the dirty laundry.  I just LOVE that game.  Nothing makes me happier than to have to wash clothes I have all ready washed because in an attempt to clean your room you were to lazy to open a drawer and put them away so you tossed them in the hamper.  Can’t stress how much I love this game. Until this game came along I just thought I hated Monopoly.

The game to top all games is a tricky one.  Somehow they sit around and figure out the precise moment when I am at work, sweating under my breasts and knee deep in patients to call me and ask what my plan is for dinner.  Last time I told them we were having their favorite, Ms. Christy’s lasagna.  They were ever so excited and wanted to know why she was bringing us dinner.  I informed them that is it customary to bring food when there is a death in the family.

“Who died?” they asked.

“No one yet but there is a very good chance I am going to kill you when I get home!!

When they hung up I heard them say “What’s wrong with her today?”

As I went back to work I said a little prayer.  Dear Lord please let me live long enough to see my kids with their own teenagers. Amen.
