Sister Mary Joy Sucker
I have taken on a new job.
From this day forward I will be toy shopping with my friend Jennifer. I will be assuming the role of Sister Mary Joy Sucker and assisting her with all her toy selections.
I love Jennifer. She is one of my best friends and I talk to her several times a day. She only has one major flaw. She tends lose her mind when she is in Meijer and decides that the talking Dora the Explorer cash register would be a great addition to her household.
Maybe it’s the florescent lights or the buzz of activity that leads her to these choices. Perhaps it’s the squeal of the beautiful Avery that makes the cash register seem like a better option. Whatever the reason for her temporary insanity she must be stopped. Friends don’t let friends buy obnoxious toys that require a second mortgage to pay for the batteries.
From this day forward I will accompany her on her toy shopping adventures. I will place a rubber band around her wrist and when she reaches for an annoying toy I will pop it. Then I will remind her that the rubber band pain is nothing compared to the sound that toy will make in her home.
As part of the intervention I will lead her to the Pillow Buddy section. It is a stuffed animal pillow/blanket that makes no noise, doesn’t use batteries and promotes children laying down.
As her friend it is the least I can do.
