Lately, since my memory has begun to fade I have attempted to combat my craziness with a notepad and pen.
Every night as I am trying to fall asleep I think of a million things I need to do or things I want to write about or things I need to tell someone. This is the reason I frequently take my beloved sleep-aid Ambien. As I lay there with the weight of the world on my shoulders, I try to write down as many things as I can on my notepad. The plan is that when tomorrow comes I will have a to do list that will make accomplishing all these things manageable.
Here is the problem. I can’t decipher what half of the notes mean. At the time they make perfect sense to me and I know just what I need to do or write about tomorrow. As the new day dawns things aren’t quite as clear. Once I even woke up in the middle of the night, turned on my lamp and made a note to myself. Apparently, it was that important. That was two years ago and I still have never figured out what the note meant.
I guess I am going to have to get a tape recorder and try that. Maybe I will give more details if I don’t have to write them down.
For those of you under 40, please take a moment to remember what you had for breakfast and what tasks you have to get done today. Cherish these moments because soon enough remembering your last meal will be considered the good ole days.
